Led a global organization to provide
transparent information, systems and support for drug development project
teams, clinical and non-clinical functions and executive management.
Achieved a common goal of aggressively executing projects within the
approved resources, with acceptable risks, in order to maximize the
overall value of the J&JPRD portfolio and its strategic fit with the
Pharmaceutical Group’s objectives.

Executive sponsor/leader of
a $5M J&J Pharma Enterprise Resource/Project Management system. Brought
over 100 global colleagues together, utilized a 3-day “Accelerated
Solutions Environment” to gain unanimous alignment of goals, selection
criteria and process to select the tool.

Selected as the Global
Process Owner for business planning in implementing an SAP system.
Partnered with Finance to align planning, resource, HR and financial
systems and deliver a new system on schedule and on budget in 12 months.

Together with the head of
clinical operations, analyzed the business needs and jointly developed a
real-time process and system to evaluate and execute the optimal approach
to managing a large number of multi-site, multi-country clinical trials.
This resulted in line managers gaining the ability to see their clinical
trial and resource capacity real time and optimize their country specific
responsibilities.

Reduced operating costs by
over $1M annually by implementing common resource management and planning
approaches. Received company wide recognition for one of the most
successful collaborations with pre-clinical drug evaluation group,
commercial operating companies and medical affairs to standardize resource
management and project planning approaches.

Improved Customer service
ratings by over 50%. Created and maintained service level agreements (SLA’s)
with drug development functions and therapeutic area teams, established
service expectations and surveyed customers.

Coordinated and published
reports throughout the organization regarding monthly project status,
quarterly investor relations reports and ad hoc requests for project and
metrics information.

Implemented radical new
“Drug Development Intrasite” that provided instant access to drug
development information including compound, project and portfolio level
data.

Voting member of Project
Management Stage Gate Review committee for all new compounds.

Development Leader –Project, Resource and Portfolio Management
Selected to
lead a multi-company initiative in developing a New Product Development
Process. Led the design team, implementation teams and continually
improved the processes to systematically and proactively plan, manage and
communicate project, resource and portfolio information in an integrated
way. Met weekly with J&J Pharma’s “Global Operating Committee” to review
our progress and gain agreement on the design elements.

Led a team of drug
development and commercial team members to design a new approach to
managing J&J’s Drug Development process. The core design is being expanded
to other recent J&J acquisitions and the model of how to do business.
·
Developed a “Deliverable
Based” resource management system designed around standardized algorithms,
complexity factors and scheduling anchor points. The resulting approach
continues to provide J&J with faster analysis and alignment of data in
managing the business of drug development.
·
Created a drug development
contract and contracting process between the therapeutic areas, functions
and senior management. The contract process has increased the level of
trust in the organization and provides an objective means to measure
performance of the drug development organization.

Developed an “Integrated
Project Plan” combining many disparate and obsolete documents.
·
Received J&J “Standards of
Leadership” award in 2002 for leadership in designing J&J PRD’s New
Product Development process.
·
Based on successful design
efforts, selected to lead a cross company implementation team focused on
Project and Resource management.
